OnBoard Legal is a retained legal search firm. We recruit partners, practice groups, in-house counsel and law firm executives, and we advise firms on combinations. Discretion is the core of that work, so this policy sets out plainly what we collect through this website, what we do with it, and what we do not do with it.
Information you give us
Everything on this site that asks for information does so through a form, and we only receive what you type into one.
- Contact form. Whether you are a firm or an attorney, your name, email address, firm or organization, an optional phone number, an optional resume, and whatever you choose to write in the message field.
- Application form. Where you apply to a listed position, the details and documents that form requests.
- Book request. Your name, firm, email address and the postal address to send the book to.
We use what you send to reply to you and to carry out the work you contacted us about. We do not add you to a marketing list because you filled in a form, we do not sell your information, and we do not use anything you submit through a form for advertising.
Candidate information
If you are a candidate, we treat your interest as confidential. We do not send your name, your resume or any detail that identifies you to a client firm without your permission for that specific firm. A candidacy that leaks is a candidacy that is over, and we run our searches on that basis.
Where you do ask us to put you forward, we share what a firm needs to evaluate you, and nothing beyond it.
Information collected automatically
Like any website, our server records ordinary technical information when a page is requested, including the IP address making the request, the browser and the page requested. This is used to keep the site running and secure.
Cookies and tracking
We use three services that set cookies or otherwise track visits:
- Google Analytics, to understand which pages are read and how people arrive.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag, to measure and target advertising on LinkedIn.
- StackAdapt, to measure and target advertising elsewhere.
None of these run until you accept them. When you first arrive we ask, and if you decline, no analytics or advertising cookies are set and the LinkedIn and StackAdapt tags are never loaded. You can change your answer at any time using the cookie preferences link in the footer of every page.
Two small pieces of information are stored in your browser rather than in a cookie: your answer to the cookie question, and which version of the home page headline you were shown. Both stay in your browser, and neither identifies you.
Who we share information with
We share information in three situations, and no others. With a client firm or a candidate, where you have asked us to and to the extent needed for that introduction. With the services that run this business on our behalf, such as our website host, our email provider and our form software, which may only use it to provide that service to us. And where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and candidate information for as long as we are working with you and for a reasonable period afterwards, because a search that is wrong this year is often right in three. If you would rather we did not, tell us and we will remove it.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can withdraw a candidacy at any point. You can decline or withdraw cookie consent at any time from the footer of any page. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under local law, and we will honor them.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection and access to submissions is limited to the people at OnBoard Legal who need it. No system is perfect, and we do not claim otherwise, but confidentiality is the product we sell and we treat it that way.
Children
This site is aimed at practicing lawyers and firm leadership. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
